Course Fees: $625 including Workbook, one to one student support, final assessments and certification.
Duration: 40 Hours online plus workbook completion time (approximately 25 hours) and final assessment completion. On average this course will take 3 months to complete. This, of course, depends on your work commitments, some students will complete the course in a shorter timeframe.

What you will learn:
A Computer Reservation system known as a CRS is also called a GDS or Global Distribution System. On this interactive course which turns your PC/MAC into a simulated GDS, you will learn how to check for product availability (airline seats, hotel rooms and car rental vehicles), make, amend and cancel client bookings, quote airfares, issue e-tickets plus many more travel industry processes – you will actually be doing what Travel Industry Employees do each day while learning a great deal about the airline and agency sectors, including much of the language of travel. You can select from Amadeus, Abacus, Galileo or Sabre.

After your enrolment is processed, (may take up to 24 hours depending on when you register) an Account ID and Password will give you access to the course which is divided into topics, lessons, drills and exercises followed by quizes and final assessments to demonstrate competency. It is important to take each quiz as the questions reinforce the learning process and help you to remember the Key Learning Points. You should complete the material within 3 – 4 months ideally for maximum retention but you have access to the material for 6 months after registration – at which time your access will expire. By this time you should have also completed the final assessment tasks. Computer Reservations Systems Training has been accredited by VETAB. (NSW Vocational Education & Training Board) On demonstration of competence and successful completion of this Unit of Competency a nationally accredited and industry recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued. This represents credit towards the SIT07 Certificate IIII in Tourism (Retail Travel Sales)

This is a stand alone course, with no formal prerequisites except the knowledge and skills required to use a computer to access the Internet. A good level of English will also help.
If you know something about the industry and how it works it will be a great help so, if you are not currently working in the industry you should consider taking the Introduction to Travel & Tourism course to give you the background to the travel industry.

Computer Reservations Systems Training is designed for people wwith no p revious workplace experience using a GDS who wish to work in operations areas of the Travel and Tourism Industry. This could include working for an airline in the Reservations or Fares & Ticketing department, a Ticket Consolidator, Tour Operator or as a Travel Agent Travel Consultant. What is a Unit of Competence?
Under the Australian qualifications framework, a Unit of Competence specifies the knowledge and skills and the application of these to the standards or performance expected in the workplace. It signifies a stand alone unit that can be assessed and recognised asa workplace function. You will learn to check for availability of airline seats, hotel rooms and car rental vehicles, build full reservations, then retrieve them, amend them and cancel them. Q: Will this course help me work out in which sectors of the industry I might like to work?
A:It should do, especially if you have completed the Introduction to the Travel and Tourism Industry programme. You will understand the sectors, the companies, their functions, industry terminology and you will know a lot about what travel agents, ariline reservations staff and wholesale reservations staff do all day.

What about the course assessment, how is that structured?
Formative assessments take place throughout the course in the form of Online Quizes. It is a good idea to try to achieve 100% in each of these to demonstrate you have understood the content. Successful completion of the final online knowledge assessment and a Hayton assessment leads to the issuance of a Statement of Attainment. In all assessments you must demonstrate competence in the skills and knowledge required to operate a computerised reservations system. This is a key skill of the industry. After being deemed "competent" you will receive a Statement of Attainment - this result will look great on your CV.
What is a Statement of Attainment?
A Statement of Attainment is a Certificate issued by a Registered Training Organisation or RTO under the AQF (Australian Qualifications Framework). It confirms that a candidate has demonstrated competence in the required knowledge and skills of the unit assessment. A Statement of Attainment lists the Units of Competence in which the candidate has been assessed as competent. Each Statement of Attainment earned by a candidate may contribute to a qualification outcome.
Does it make any difference which GDS I learn to use - Galileo, Sabre, Amadeus or Abacus?
None whatever, the structure of each course is the same so are the required elements in which students must demonstrate competence.
